What we believe

At Milford Bible Baptist Church, our faith is firmly grounded in the truth of God's Word. We strive to honor Christ in all things, taking Scripture as our complete guide for life, worship, and service.

"And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence."

Colossians 1:18

The Holy Scriptures

We believe the Holy Bible to be the inspired, infallible, and preserved Word of God. Scripture is our sole and final authority for all matters of faith, doctrine, and daily Christian living. Every verse points us toward Jesus Christ and guides our walk as a church family. We believe the King James Bible is God's Word without error in the English language.

2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 12:6-7; Matthew 24:35;            1 Peter 1:23-25

God

We believe in one true, eternal, and living God existing in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Equal in every divine perfection, executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption and creation.

Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 1 John 5:7; Genesis 1:26

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, born of a virgin, fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary death on the cross for our sins, arose bodily from the grave on the third day, and ascended into heaven where He ever lives to make intercession for believers.

John 1:1-14; Isaiah 7:14; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Hebrews 7:25; Acts 1:9-11, Philippians 2:5-6

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person, equal with God the Father and God the Son and of the same nature. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; regenerates, indwells, seals, and comforts the believer at the moment of salvation; and empowers every Christian for godly living and service.

John 14:16-17; John 16:7-11; Ephesians 1:13-14; Romans 8:9; Acts 1:8

Salvation

We believe that salvation is a free gift of God, entirely by grace through personal faith in Jesus Christ alone, and not by any human works or merit. All people are sinners by nature and practice, separated from God and in need of redemption. Christ paid the full penalty for our sins through His shed blood on the cross and victorious resurrection. Anyone who repents and turns to Christ receives forgiveness, eternal life, and everlasting security in the family of God.

Church

We believe that a visible church of Jesus Christ is a local, autonomous congregation of born-again, baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel. The local church is tasked with observing the ordinances of Christ, exercising the gifts and responsibilities vested in them by His Word, and proclaiming the truth to the ends of the earth. It exists to bring glory to Jesus Christ through edification of the saints, worship by the saints, and evangelism by the saints.

Acts 2:41-42; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Matthew 28:19-20; 1 Timothy 3:15;                     Ephesians 3:21; 4:11-16

Biblical separation

We believe that all believers are called into a life of separation from worldly practices and apostasy unto God. Commanded to maintain holiness in walk and conversation, the church and its members should stand distinct from worldly conformity and false doctrine, wholeheartedly dedicated to Christ.

2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1; Romans 12:1-2; 1 John 2:15-17;                            1 Thessalonians 5:22

The end times

We believe in the personal, imminent, and premillennial return of Jesus Christ for His redeemed saints at the rapture. Following this event, God's righteous judgment will be poured out during the great tribulation, culminating in the bodily return of Christ with His saints to establish His millennial reign upon the earth. We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men—the saved to eternal life and blessed fellowship in heaven, and the unsaved to eternal, conscious punishment in the lake of fire.
